I used to watch my mom make mandazis when I was a child. Around 8 years old, I started helping her out making the shapes, and she often said to be creative and just make a shape that my heart desires to make. Since 13 years old, I started making it myself and it’s now one signature item that I welcome my guests with, or that I bring with me to any gathering. Every time someone gets the first bite, they also say that “it reminds them the taste of home”. PS: Mandazi was also the first gift that I gave to my husband when we just knew each other, and it locked his heart since then.
